This throwback design is a variation on a classic Three Musketeers logo. Xavier took its athletic nickname from Alexandre Dumas’ beloved tale, but not because of the titular characters; their official (non-Blob) mascot is D’Artagnan, the semi-fictional protagonist who first finds himself under the tutelage of the Three Musketeers.
